Recently [ 2 months back ] i got the firmware update , in the instructions it was told that i should boot the system with the given image[ISO].I was a bit reluctant to try it out, uncomfortable of the the idea of booting up the system with the update [ it’s so 80’ish Procedure ,i thought ].And few weeks back i accidentally found myself searching for the news on this. Read through to update your firmware

I tried to find any new firmware than the one i got in the mail, and i didn’t find anything new , and i wasn’t able to download from the online links Dell has provided.But fortunately i did download the file out of instinct [ i completely forgot that i downloaded this before , and i found it after i searched my PC. ] .

The capacitive panel firmware update did actually fix the irritating behavior of touch panel. The following problems have been removed from my dell studio 1535 ,

1. Erroneous blinking of Capacitive keys.
2. Glowing of eject button often.
3. Capacitive keys stops responding after prolonged usage.
4. Drive eject will make the OS stuck when capacitive panel is used.

However don’t panic if you suddenly miss the sequential glowing of keys during startup, which according to Dell , was never meant to be a default behavior.It just happened to be so.

Instructions  [Do mind the bold words , those are important ] :

1. Write the image file to a CD using a burning software like Nero | Roxio etc.
2. Please make sure A/C power is being used while updating the firmware.
3. Insert this CD in your system.
4. Reboot the system, and enter one-time boot menu by pressing F12.
5. Boot from the CD drive.
6. The CD will autorun and update the firmware.
7. Once completed, screen will show pass and Flash Successful.
8. Shut down the system.   [ just click the power button on the side of the laptop ]
9. Remove A/C power cable and battery, wait one minute.
10. Reconnect A/C power cable and battery to continue normal operation.

PS: I’m using Dell Studio 1535  , and i used to experience frequent disc ejects and  non-responsive keys , this seems to work it out.
